Describe your shop or garage, upload photos, and determine shop rules and availability. Your listing will be live soon, and you'll be able to use your tools and space to their full potential. Need help creating a listing, feel free to reach out to us at info@diyshopfinder.com.

2. Receive bookings that work for your schedule.

DIY mechanics will find your shop on diyshopfinder.com and schedule shop time by the hour or day, based on your pre-determined rates. Communicate and chat with the potential renter. When you are both satisfied accept the booking and make money.

3. Receive secure payment.

After you accept the booking, payment is secured through diyshopfinder.com's secure payment system. Renters pay before the booking with Stripe and once the booking is complete the payment, minus a booking fee, is deposited directly into your account. No fuss, no muss and no need for you to have to worry about getting paid.

Why would I want to use diyshopfinder.com?

This is a great way to earn passive income. You have spent thousands on your tools, you have unused space, why not let your tools and space make money? Additionally, everything is becoming more disposable, renting out your space and tools allows others to learn to do automotive DIY. We don’t want diyshopfinder.com to be just another peer-to-peer marketplace, we want to create a community where Host’s and Renter’s work together to keep DIY alive.

Can I vet or screen who rents my shop/garage?

Those interested in your space can contact you through our messaging tool where you can communicate. Using this tool can work as a buffer for you as the Host and the Renter to ensure that you are both comfortable with the arrangement before the booking.

If someone requests a booking before reaching out, you can contact them within diyshopfinder.com to determine if they will be a good fit. If you are not comfortable renting to them, deny their booking request. This workflow helps give you more control over who is using your space and tools.

How do I get paid?

We use the secure payment applications, Stripe. After you confirm the booking, the renter will be charged and payment held until the booking is complete. Once the booking is complete you should see payment, minus fees, deposited directly into your bank account within a few days.

What type of fees are charged for me using diyshopfinder.com?

At diyshopfinder we want to ensure that the bookings are affordable for the renter but also that the Host gets a fair compensation for the use of tools and space. In order to provide this service diyshopfinder.com takes a 10% fee from the Host’s booking, this helps us run this platform and provide the best possible service to you. It covers hosting the shop on the platform, managing the bookings, providing secure payment options, credit card fees, and future improvements and enhancements.

Should I accept payment outside of diyshopfinder.com?

No, in order to keep everyone safe and ensure that the renter is abiding by the diyshopfinder.com Terms and Conditions you should never accept payment outside of this secure environment.

What should I do if the booking goes over?

We all know how DIY mechanics go, sometimes a one hour project turns into three hours. In an ideal world the renter would correctly estimate the time they need and the project will go as expected. Unfortunately, we are not in an ideal world. If the renter is going to go over their booking they should log into diyshopfinder.com and extend their booking providing secure payment. If they are not already doing this it is ok to give them a gentle reminder to do so.

I had a horrible renter who didn’t clean up and stayed too long. What should I do?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that everyone will be courteous and do the correct thing. We recommend trying to work with them to cover the excess time they spent. If this does not work, you can verify that they stayed longer than the booking without payment and they would not cover their overage (document it in our messaging app) then we may look into suspending their account. Additionally, in our platform you can leave a review for this renter so other Hosts can know what they are getting into before renting to them.
